JAYCEES ANNOUNCE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT
ELMHURST, Ill.
ELMHURST, Ill., January 22, 2011 -- The Elmhurst Jaycees are now accepting nominations for their 59th Distinguished Service Award (DSA). The prestigious DSA is an annual award given as the Jaycees’ way of recognizing a citizen for his/her dedication to making Elmhurst a better community.
Past recipients are not eligible to be nominated but they, residents and businesspeople are encouraged to submit letters of nomination, in accordance with the following rules:
The nominee must have an Elmhurst association including, but not limited to, a family, church, civic, school or business affiliation;
Go to www.elmhurstjaycees.com and fill out an application;
The names, addresses and telephone numbers of both the nominee and the person making the nomination must be included with the letter of nomination;
Nominations must be received by Monday, February 28, 2011;
The judging will be done by the Elmhurst Jaycees;
Any past nominations not selected must be, and are encouraged to be, resubmitted; and
The decision of the Jaycees will be final.

DSA recipients in the past decade include: Ralph Pechanio (2001), John and Phyllis Carroll (2002), Thomas O. Myers, Jr. (2003), William and Charlotte Ralston (2004), Betsy Hanisch (2005), Lawrence Fricke (2006), Ken Bartels (2007), Shirley Myers (2008), Richard Rosenberg (2009) and Marilyn Boria (2010). The Jaycees are eager to welcome the next DSA recipient to this highly esteemed group of leaders.
The announcement of the 2011 Distinguished Service Award recipient will be made via press release.
The Elmhurst Jaycees are a young person’s (ages 21-39) leadership training and mentoring group who always welcome new members. YOU COULD BE THE EMERALD QUEEN OF ELMHURST
Attention all women ages 21-39 who live or work in Elmhurst: Want to be Queen of the second largest St. Patricks Day Parade in the Chicago area? Now is your chance! Just email a snapshot photo in jpeg format and completed application form (found at www.elmhurstjaycees.com) to ElmhurstJaycees@aol.com or mail to Elmhurst Jaycees, P.O. Box 1041, Elmhurst, IL by Wednesday, February 23 for your chance to be crowned the Emerald Queen of Elmhurst and appear in the Elmhurst St. Patricks Day Parade on Saturday, March 12 with the Elmhurst Jaycees. The Emerald Queen will also receive at least $250 in prizes. The contest will be held on Sunday, February 27 at 2 p.m. (registration beginning at 1:30 p.m.) at the Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. words per letter), photographs and other relevant information are also
encouraged and recommended.
Please note these materials will not be returned if the nomination is

person making the nomination must be included with the letter of nomination;
q
Nominations must be received by Monday, February 22, 2010;
q
The judging will be done by a panel of Elmhurst Jaycees;
q
